The Department of Sociology, in the 4th International Conference of Social Sciences on
“Contemporary World: Challenges and Transformations,” addressed pressing issues facing
contemporary society, including structural poverty, women’s economic marginalization, gender
and health inequalities, gender-sensitive and inclusive curriculum, barriers to girls’ education,
social inclusion, and the intersections of gender, climate, and vulnerability in Pakistan.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Rabia Ali, Associate Professor of Sociology at International Islamic
University, highlighted critical social challenges and their implications for communities and
society. Sociologists, social scientists, and researchers from across the country presented their
work, engaging students and academics in meaningful dialogue, while session chairs provided
insightful feedback that enriched the discussions.
Dr. Raza Ullah, Chairperson of the Department of Sociology at Rawalpindi Women University,
concluded the session with heartfelt thanks to the keynote speaker, session chairs, co-chairs,
presenters, and participants for their contributions and active engagement.
