RWU Observes Kashmir Solidarity Day

Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) organized a special ceremony on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir and to reaffirm support for their legitimate right to self-determination.

Vice Chancellor Rawalpindi Women University, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (Pride of Performance, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), in her special message on Kashmir Solidarity Day, expressed complete solidarity with the Kashmiri people and urged students to become the voice of the oppressed through knowledge and awareness. She stated that Kashmir Solidarity Day serves as a reminder of the ongoing injustices and human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and highlights the moral responsibility to support the Kashmiri’s right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

The Vice Chancellor emphasized that education equips students with the ability to understand global issues and to raise their voices with reason and critical insight. She further stated that universities play a vital role in creating awareness about important humanitarian issues through research and dialogue.

On this occasion, a special lecture was delivered by Shozab Askari, Lecturer Pakistan Studies, who highlighted the historical, legal, and humanitarian dimensions of the Kashmir issue. He stressed that the international community must take serious notice of the human rights violations being committed in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that since the revocation of the region’s special status in 2019, the human rights situation has deteriorated further, while illegal Indian settlements are being accelerated to alter the demographic structure of the region.

Special prayers were also offered for the freedom, safety, and fundamental human rights of the Kashmiri people. The event concluded with a solidarity walk, during which participants peacefully raised slogans in support of the Kashmiri people.
