Rawalpindi Women University Observes Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir

The Academic Council of Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) convened its fourth meeting under the chairpersonship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tayyaba Zarif, marking a significant step forward in the institution’s academic and policy evolution.

At the outset, council members extended their congratulations to the Vice Chancellor on assuming office. The meeting witnessed active participation from both internal and external members, contributing to well-rounded deliberations and informed decision-making.

A central outcome of the session was the approval of revised curricula across multiple departments, aligned with contemporary academic requirements, Higher Education standards, and global benchmarks. Updated vision and mission statements of various departments were also presented, reflecting a renewed institutional direction.

The Council endorsed a series of key policies aimed at strengthening academic, research, and administrative frameworks. In a forward-looking move, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across all academic programmes received in-principle approval, with the objective of equipping students with future-ready skills and enhancing their global competitiveness.

Special emphasis was placed on improving facilities for students with disabilities and undertaking phased upgradation of campus infrastructure to ensure an inclusive and accessible learning environment.

To elevate teaching standards, the Council approved comprehensive professional development and capacity-building initiatives for faculty, aligning pedagogical practices with international standards. Several academic policies were also reviewed and refined to enhance institutional efficiency.

In a notable decision, the Council approved the introduction of structured internship opportunities within the university for its graduates, aimed at fostering practical experience and professional readiness.

The launch of a BS Software Engineering programme was formally approved, while a proposal for the establishment of a Faculty of Computing was also presented. This development is being viewed as a strategic step toward advancing education in emerging fields such as computing, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence.

Addressing the meeting, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tayyaba Zarif reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and institutional development. She emphasized that RWU is focused on building a robust academic model that meets national priorities while strengthening its presence on the international stage.

The meeting concluded with a strong resolve to ensure effective implementation of the approved reforms through a coordinated strategy, enabling the university to deliver high-quality, future-oriented education to its students.
