RWU Marks Quaid Day with Seminar and Art Exhibition

Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) organized a seminar and an art exhibition to mark the birth anniversary of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The seminar was graced by Ms. Nasreen Azhar, Council Member of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and an eyewitness to events linked with Pakistan’s freedom movement, as the chief guest. In her address, she highlighted Quaid-e-Azam’s visionary leadership, democratic ideals, and firm commitment to human rights. Recalling the pre-Partition era and the painful experiences of migration, she noted that people of different religions once lived together with mutual respect, a harmony that was shattered by the violence following Partition.

She shared her personal memories of traveling on the same train as Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah to attend the Pakistan Resolution session, and later meeting the Quaid. She emphasized that Quaid-e-Azam was a strong advocate of tolerance, democracy. Following her speech, she responded to questions from students.

At the conclusion of the seminar, Registrar RWU, Dr. Huma Rauf, addressed the audience, stating that nations draw guidance from their history and the experiences of great leaders. She underscored Quaid-e-Azam’s belief in the pivotal role of women in national development and urged students to contribute to nation-building through education and strong character. An honorary shield was later presented to the chief guest.

On the occasion of Quaid day, an art exhibition was also organized by the Department of Fine Arts. The exhibition was inaugurated by senior faculty members and the Registrar. Artworks created by students, including oil paintings, miniature paintings, stencils, and wool-thread artworks, were displayed, reflecting various aspects of Quaid-e-Azam’s personality and Pakistan’s history.

Participants appreciated the students’ creativity and observed that such activities play a vital role in promoting awareness of national history and values among the younger generation.
