Training workshop on Programme Review for Effectiveness and Enhancement (PREE)
On January 10th, 2025, Rawalpindi Women University’s Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) hosted a comprehensive training workshop on Programme Review for Effectiveness and Enhancement (PREE) and the preparation of the Self-Assessment Report (SAR). The session aimed to equip faculty with the necessary skills to enhance quality assurance practices and improve educational standards. Dr. Baqir Husnain, Director of QEC, opened the event with a brief introduction to RWU, setting the tone for a collaborative learning experience. The workshop featured distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Director of QEC at Fatima Jinnah Women University, Dr. Muhammad Iftikhar Ali, Director of QEC at Iqra University, Ms. Asmat Parveen, Director of QEC at IBADAT International University, Islamabad, Mr. Humayoun Awan, Deputy Director of QEC at Allama Iqbal Open University, Engr. Usama Rashed, Deputy Director of Quality Assurance at National University of Medical Sciences, Ms. Noor ul Haya, Manager of Academic Assessment at Foundation University Islamabad, and Mr. Muhammad Asif Imran, Manager of Quality Assurance at National University of Medical Sciences. The workshop brought together QEC coordinators, program and assessment teams from various departments, focusing on how to structure a comprehensive SAR report and evaluate it based on the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) criteria. Dr. Naveed Ahmed, Deputy Director of QEC at the National College of Arts, shared his expertise in quality assurance, providing valuable insights. The discussions were engaging and enriched participants’ understanding of the SAR process, marking a significant step towards strengthening internal quality assurance (IQA) processes at RWU. This initiative underscores RWU’s commitment to aligning with HEC standards and fostering continuous academic improvement.
Training Session on PREE/SAR Organized by QEC
The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) organized a comprehensive training session on PREE/SAR with Program Teams and Assessment Teams on December 16, 2025, aimed at strengthening the understanding of quality assurance processes and documentation standards. During the session, Dr. Baqir, Director QEC, provided a detailed explanation of the SAR/PREE report format, highlighting key components, required evidence, and common mistakes observed during report preparation. He also discussed various problems, issues, and concerns faced by departments in the implementation of PREE/SAR, and shared practical recommendations to address these challenges effectively. The session was interactive, allowing participants to raise queries and share experiences. It served as an important step towards ensuring accuracy, compliance with HEC guidelines, and continuous quality improvement across academic programs.
Academic Audit / PGPR/ PREE Visit (May 15–30, 2025)
Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) successfully conducted an academic audit, including the Program Review & Evaluation Exercise (PREE) and Postgraduate Program Review (PGPR), organized by the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) on May 15, 19, 20, 21, 29, and 30, 2025. Led by Dr. Baqir Husnain, Director QEC, along with the QEC team and an esteemed panel of external reviewers, the process provided constructive insights into the university’s academic strengths and areas for improvement. The participating programs included M.Phil. in Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Communication and Media Studies, English, Psychology, and Management Sciences. The audit involved a distinguished team of subject experts from renowned institutions. Departments were evaluated by domain specialists including Dr. Tahir Abbas Shah and Mr. Humayun Awan (Zoology); Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zeeshan Hyder and Mr. Humayun Awan (Botany); Prof. Dr. Manzar Sohail and Dr. M. Arif Nadeem Saqib (Chemistry); Prof. Dr. Saifullah Awan (Physics); Prof. Dr. Sohail Nadeem and Mr. Humayun Awan (Mathematics); Dr. Zamir Hussain and Mr. Humayun Awan (Statistics); Dr. Ghulam Ali and Dr. Syed Hussain Mustafa Gillani (English); Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zahid and Dr. Gillani (Management Sciences); Dr. Tamkeen Saleem and Dr. Gillani (Psychology); and Prof. Dr. Syed Abdul Siraj and Dr. Gillani (Communication & Media Studies). The review process emphasized curriculum relevance, research contributions, and the enhancement of student learning outcomes. As a vital component of RWU’s ongoing quality assurance framework, the audit reinforced the university’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
SAR / PREE 2024
The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) conducted a Postgraduate Performance Review (PGPR) on June 25 and 26, 2024, to assess the academic and research outcomes of postgraduate programs across 10 departments. A dedicated committee of faculty members, Deputy Registrar and the QEC team evaluated curriculum effectiveness, research quality, faculty performance, and student achievements. The review ensured that RWU’s postgraduate programs meet high academic standards. The insights from this review will guide future improvements and enhance the educational experience for postgraduate students. The successful completion of the review underscores RWU’s commitment to academic excellence. This process further strengthens RWU’s dedication to continuous improvement and innovation
SAR / PREE 2023
On June 6, 2023, Quality Enhancement Cell- RWU organized an External Assessment Audit for the Zoology, Chemistry, Botany, Mathematics, Physics, Sociology, Statistics, and Business Administration departments, reflecting the institution’s commitment to quality education and continuous improvement. The audit was conducted by a team of distinguished professionals, including Dr. Sajid Naeem (PMAS, Arid Agricultural University), Dr. Naveed Kausar Janjua (QAU, Islamabad), Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad (QAU, Islamabad), Dr. Zahid Iqbal (AIOU), Dr. Shoaib Hassan (NUML), and Dr. Fawad Sadiq (Riphah University). The externals commended Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal, Vice Chancellor of RWU, for the professional management of the university and its dedicated faculty. The QEC team, led by Dr. Baqir Husnain, Additional Director QEC, and supported by Ms. Iraj Munawar Gill and Ms. Shazia Shoukat, facilitated the smooth execution of the audit process. Feedback from the externals focused on identifying strengths, suggesting areas for improvement, and recommending measures to enhance the quality of education and research, with the university committed to implementing these recommendations and further solidifying its reputation as a leading institution in Pakistan.
